The International Organisation of La Francophonie is an institution based on sharing the French language and common values. It brings together people from various cultures and traditions having chosen to adhere to the principles of the organisation: cultural and linguistic diversity, democracy, human rights, education, research, sustainable development and solidarity.
It consists of 54 members, 27 observing countries, including Ireland since October 2018, and 7 associated member states.

On the occasion of the anniversary of its creation, on March 20th 1970, twenty-six of these Embassies and diplomatic missions in Dublin organise the Francophonie Festival in Ireland, to celebrate those common values.

Free Online Screening : ’The Two of Them’
(Hungarian-French drama directed by: Márta Mészáros, 1977, 101 minutes)
Presented by the Embassy of Hungary in Dublin
Synopsis: The film is an in-depth illustration of the friendships, marriages and love relationships of two women, in which Mária (Marina Vlady), a seemingly happily married calm and steady middle-aged woman befriends Juli (Lili Monori), who is quite the opposite: young and rebellious. Juli is married to a bright but hopelessly implosive alcoholic and thanks to her, Mária begins to see the cracks in her own marriage and worldview. The Two of Them is very much a film about the clash of generations, values and attitudes, as seen from women’s point of view.
